Essentials of Animation for First Person Shooters: Staging, Camera Movement, and Body Deformation

Abstract

This paper examines the main elements of creating animation for first person shooters currently followed in the video game industry. After establishing these to be staging, camera movement and body deformation, a study is presented conducting tests using these elements in several animations and having them judged by the general public via survey. The application of these principles in the video game industry is confirmed and the study elaborates on their influence and potential applications.
