Cloud-Based AI Framework: Improving the Performance of Real-Time Strategy Game AI

Abstract

This paper reviews the current AI research in real-time strategy games, and nds that performance is only ever considered as a by-product of existing research. To this end, the proof-of-concept Cloud AI framework was designed and developed to determine the practicality of relocating AI calculation to a server, with the aim of improving performance. The results gathered tended towards the solution being impractical, however, because of the poor quality of the data, the overall conclusion was inconclusive, thus recommendations and questions for future research are posed.
